Handcrafted in Germany, this traditional weather house uses changes in humidity to coax one of its two residents outdoors. When the gentleman appears, damp weather is on its way. When the lady steps out, fair weather is expected.

No batteries. No charging. No notifications. Just a beautifully old-fashioned bit of weather forecasting that has been doing the job rather longer than any of our phones.

At just over five inches tall, it is small enough to tuck onto a bookshelf, desk or windowsill—which is precisely where ours wandered off to in the Library.

And because even meteorology benefits from good tailoring, both forecasters arrive properly dressed for the occasion.
