Story of Stags Head Retreat

Stags Head Retreat is a discreet American estate (location politely withheld) known for two things:
its scandalously beautiful grounds and its habit of producing the sort of objects people “borrow” and conveniently forget to return.

Over generations, the house has accumulated heirloom silver, curious decanters, glassware with opinions, textiles that refuse to age, and artifacts of such irresistible charm that visitors have been known to leave with bulging coat pockets.

Under the quiet, competent care of Rutherford and Genevieve “Gigi” McGregor, the estate has begun sharing a carefully curated selection of its treasures with the outside world—just enough to be generous, not nearly enough to cause a rush on the front gates.

Each room (and each collection) has its own keeper, personality, and politely whispered rumors.
Sir Rupert’s silver, polished to a blinding shine during his late-night disco sessions.
Jules Maverick’s Angler’s Barge, where the fish are either exceptionally large or exceptionally imaginative.
Winthrop Tannenbaum’s Holiday Wing, which appears promptly every December and disappears just as mysteriously in January.
Kitty Badminton’s Velvet Closet, whose door is never all the way open, and whose contents are never fully explained.
Penelope Penobscot’s immaculate watercolors.
Kenton’s Library—where books occasionally migrate on their own.

The estate itself is a character:
rolling lawns, wandering paths, overconfident bees, polo ponies convinced they’re celebrities, and a butler who hasn’t been spotted since 1983 but continues to add things to the inventory at odd hours.

Everything offered through Stags Head Retreat carries the quiet luxury of a well-lived life:
collectible, giftable, displayable, and entirely unnecessary in the most delightful way.

A treasure from the Whiski Room.
A watercolor from Penelope’s immaculate easel.
A charm forged in Gigi’s glorious creative chaos.
Something unexpected, discovered in a room you weren’t entirely sure existed.

Welcome to Stags Head Retreat.
We suggest you keep a close eye on your coat pockets on the way out.

Those Who Call the Estate Home

A charming introduction to the individuals who quietly (and sometimes not-so-quietly) oversee the many rooms, wings, workshops, and questionable corners of Stags Head Retreat.

Each portrait represents the keeper of a particular domain—be it the Whiski Room, the Angler’s Barge, the Velvet Closet, the Butler’s Pantry, the Library, or whichever space they’ve claimed and refuse to relinquish.

They are the personalities behind the treasures you’ll find throughout SHR: curators of silver, glassware, textiles, curiosities, and objects that occasionally behave as though they have their own agenda.

No lengthy biographies. No explanations. Just faces to the names… and a hint of the delightful chaos managed behind the scenes.

You’ve reached the Estate Office.
